Here are some pictures of a commission piece I finished recently. I used reflective piping & fabric on the body & straps… wish I could’ve kept that one!
Luckily I’ve been pretty busy with commissions lately, otherwise I’d be moping about losing my studio space. Instead I’ve been using it for all it’s good for. Only 11 more days…
Here’s a glimpse of some of the projects…
For this commission the customer wanted the colors of the Peruvian flag…
Yay for a productive holiday season (or, more accurately, last-minute-holiday-buyers panic season). I tend to forget about the people closest to me as potential customers. I aim to make my products appealing enough so that any stranger can approach them & be interested in them with no prior history with the brand. And as nice as those sales are, the much more practical sales are ones that come from a smaller radius around me. I received two orders this week with very quick turnaround times from people I know from my block. They are happy to order from me because they *do* have a history with me, they have a story to tell with their gift and the gift can be made quickly & delivered easily. Plus, these people are much more likely to provide feedback & report back to me with problems & suggestions. It is definitely an arrangement I should remember more often & concentrate more on.
Monday night I got a call from someone who wanted two v.5 bags… by Friday. I put aside all the work on the new c2 and got to work on the order. Luckily I was at least half prepared… had one complete bag to sell & had four pockets ready, so after two nights & a day full of work, I was able to complete the order Wednesday afternoon. That small late-season rush made me feel a little more comfortable going into next year. It also gave me some good inspiration, so hopefully some new items will be coming through soon…
